Job summary

CIQ is seeking a Senior Customer Support Engineer to own the hardest technical problems for enterprise customers running Rocky Linux and the RLC Pro family. You will set the technical standard for support and mentor others while working across kernel, storage, networking, and virtualization.

You will drive defects to Engineering, contribute automated tests, and document solutions with clear, customer-friendly communication.

Qualifications

• Proven work experience in senior support engineering, systems engineering, or DevOps for enterprise, government, or research customers.
• 7+ years in Linux systems engineering or comparable production environments, with 5+ years hands-on Linux expertise.
• Ownership of critical escalations for large accounts and direct customer communication under pressure.
• Experience packaging sources and delivering via RPM distributions.
• Familiarity with HPC, AI/ML infrastructure, defense, or regulated domains is a plus.
• Security/compliance workflows (CVE analysis, DISA STIG, SCAP, FIPS) familiarity.
• Active involvement in the open source community is required.
• CKA in first 6 months is preferred or required.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the most complex escalations from first report to verified root cause and resolution.
• Be senior technical point of contact for strategic accounts, understanding workloads and constraints.
• Debug Linux at depth across kernel, user space, storage, networking, on various infrastructures.
• Set reproduction discipline and root-cause rigor for the support org.
• Mentor engineers and review their work to grow the team's capability.
• Drive customer-facing defects to Engineering with context for unambiguous fixes.
• Contribute automated test coverage that reflects real customer configurations.
• Create knowledge base content and training material from resolved escalations.
• Use AI-assisted tooling while owning every customer-facing output.
• Participate in on-call rotation and release readiness reviews.
• Engage with Rocky Linux and open source communities upstream and publicly.
