Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Systems Administrator to join the Reston, VA location of the ARL in the Digital Engineering Department. You will maintain HPC systems, primarily Linux (Red Hat), and help manage cloud tooling for the Information Advantage Office.

The role emphasizes Linux, Ansible scripting, GitLab pipelines, and CI/CD, with duties including deployment planning, scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and supporting Linux systems (Red Hat) and related tooling.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve server, workstation, and A/V issues, including outages.
• Experience testing and applying upgrades/patches for Kubernetes-based platforms and M&S apps.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and support systems with emphasis on Linux, Ansible, and GitLab pipelines.
• Develop deployment plans, schedules, and requirements for system deployment.
• Create scripts and tooling to aid systems management.
• Diagnose and resolve server, workstation, and A/V issues and outages.
• Monitor backups, CI/CD pipelines, and system performance.
• Document processes and configurations; may supervise staff.
