Job summary

Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State seeks a Systems Administrator for its Reston, VA office. You will manage HPC systems, Linux (Red Hat), Kubernetes, and cloud tooling, perform maintenance, upgrades, backups, and performance tuning to support DoD and federal customers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 1+ years of experience.
Experience with Linux (Red Hat) and Ansible scripting.
Familiarity with Kubernetes platforms and M&S apps.
Active eligibility for US government clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

Execute, improve, and monitor scripts and automation tools to aid in systems management.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve server, workstation, and A/V issues and outages.
Test and implement upgrades and patches for OS, Kubernetes, and M&S apps.
Maintain system reliability by monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting.
Monitor backups and emergency response plans for installed systems.
Resolve end-user issues and conduct research for solutions.
Recommend software/infrastructure improvements and document processes.
Create and maintain system documentation for continuous improvement.
