Job summary

King William County Library System seeks a Library Associate 3 - Adult Services Assistant to lead programming and provide top-tier service at the circulation desk. This senior role may supervise junior staff and coordinates adult-focused programs.

The position involves routine desk operations, staff coordination, program planning, and materials processing. Strong customer service, privacy awareness, and scheduling flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Three years library experience preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency with library systems and databases.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Multilingual speaking a plus.
• MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint desired.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work a schedule with days/evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to patrons at the circulation desk and in library areas.
• Serve as building manager, supervising circulation staff and coordinating facility needs.
• Plan, implement and promote programming for all ages with focus on adults.
• Assist with processing new materials and weeding as directed.
• Enforce library rules and patron privacy policies.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures and reference desk support.
• Manage Community Room rentals and track reservations.
• Assist with displays and promotional materials.
