Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Claims Specialist to investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate and resolve assigned Specialty Liability Bodily Injury and Property Damage claims. You will provide quality handling throughout the life cycle, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations while supporting field partners and training resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with strong knowledge in coverage, contract interpretation, liability and damages analysis.
• Extensive claim and/or legal experience with complex claims.
• Ability to make independent decisions on most cases.
• Understanding of policy language, ISO forms, and claims handling practices.
• Analytical, decisive, and strong negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of insurance and litigation processes.

Responsibilities

• Directly handles assigned severity claims.
• Provides quality customer service and analyzes coverage with insured.
• Consults with Manager on use of Claim Coverage Counsel.
• Investigates each claim with stakeholders to determine liability and damages.
• Engages resources such as Subrogation, nurses, and experts for evaluation.
• Maintains claim files and documents activities per procedures.
• Establishes reserves and assigns indemnity and expense.
• Negotiates dispositions with insureds and claimants.
• Manages litigated claims with staff and panel counsel.
