Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an experienced Specialist Liability Claims role in New Jersey to investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate, and resolve Bodily Injury and Property Damage claims. This role emphasizes high-quality claim handling throughout the lifecycle, including litigation management and compliance with standards.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree, 2 years liability claim handling or litigation experience, and strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 2 years liability claim handling experience and/or comparable litigation claim experience.
• Acquisition and maintenance of Insurance License(s) may be required to comply with state and Travelers requirements.
• Strong negotiation and customer service skills.
• Thorough understanding of commercial lines products, policy language, exclusions, ISO forms, and effective claims handling practices.

Responsibilities

• Directly handles assigned claims.
• Negotiates disposition of claims with insureds and claimants or their legal representatives.
• Manages litigated claims and develops a litigation plan with staff or panel counsel.
• Develops and employs creative resolution strategies to improve payout on indemnity and expense.
• Maintains claim files and documents claim file activities.
