Job summary

Turo, Inc. is seeking a Liability Director in Phoenix to lead a team of liability experts, coordinating with carrier partners to handle complex claims and defend litigation. You will shape strategies to reduce costs, monitor trends with data teams, and guide cross-functional policy improvements.

The role requires a deep understanding of third party auto claims, strong leadership, and the ability to manage escalated situations with effective negotiation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of liability claims experience, including litigated claims.
• Strong understanding of third party auto claims and U.S. jurisdictions.
• Knowledge of insurance coverage, policies, and contracts.
• Experience leading employees and external partners.
• Ability to design and improve operational strategies with measurable results.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; able to handle escalated situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal liability experts and coordinate with carrier partners for claim outcomes.
• Develop special handling instructions and provide training on car sharing processes.
• Lead strategies to reduce liability costs and monitor KPIs.
• Coordinate litigation responses with counsel and manage discovery and negotiations.
• Collaborate with Actuarial/Data teams to identify trends and actions.
