Job summary

Turo is seeking a Liability Director to lead our liability claims program in a hybrid in-office role in Phoenix. You will guide the internal team, partner with carriers, and shape handling guidelines to achieve best-in-class outcomes.

You will defend litigation, collaborate with counsel, and work with Data, Analytics, and Risk teams to strengthen controls and minimize costs while aligning with business goals and customer experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of liability claims experience including litigated claims.
• Deep understanding of third party auto claims and US jurisdictions.
• Strong knowledge of insurance coverage, policies, and litigation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and manage internal liability experts to provide accurate consultations and drive outcomes.
• Develop special handling instructions with carrier partners and train on car sharing processes.
• Lead strategies to reduce the cost of liability claims.
• Coordinate and lead Turo’s response to litigation with counsel and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Actuarial and Data teams to understand trends and improve results.
• Monitor liability KPIs, trends, and vendor performance and recommend improvements.
• Partner with Claims, Legal, Finance, and other teams on policies and escalations.
• Participate in team and leadership meetings and training.
