Job summary

Troon is seeking an experienced Liability Claims Manager to oversee non-employment claims and outside litigation from notice to resolution. You will direct claim strategy, manage reserves, and negotiate settlements, reporting status and exposure to senior leaders.

The role requires aligning with carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely, cost-efficient outcomes while protecting Troon’s financial and legal interests. Office-based in Scottsdale; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; professional credentials such as J.D., paralegal cert, ARM/AIC/CPCU are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle non-employment liability claims through outside counsel from initial report to closure.
• Manage outside litigation across the portfolio with outside counsel to develop and execute case strategy.
• Set and maintain claim reserves, evaluate exposure, adjust reserves as matters develop.
• Negotiate and settle claims directly and through counsel within delegated authority.
• Support litigation and discovery: respond to discovery, collect and produce documents, preserve evidence, prepare witnesses.
• Manage certificate of insurance compliance: track COIs, confirm coverage limits, ensure additional insured status.
• Assess risk and drive mitigation: analyze loss trends and implement measures to reduce future claims.
• Communicate and report to the General Counsel and leadership on status, reserves, posture, and outcomes.
• Partner with facilities and general managers on incident response and urgent reporting.
• Coordinate with insurers, brokers, and third-party administrators on tenders and coverage.
• Manage data and records: maintain claim files, deadlines, and financials for budgeting/forecasting.
• Control costs: monitor legal spend and outside counsel billing; pursue cost-effective handling.
• Perform other duties and support related risk, compliance, and legal initiatives.
