Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in English/Journalism or 1 year of legal experience preferred.
• Knowledge of style guides including Chicago, AP, Bluebook and California Style Manual.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and core applications.

Responsibilities

• Proofread complex legal documents for consistency, spelling, syntax, punctuation and grammar using firm style, Chicago Manual of Style, Bluebook and California Style Manual.
• Compare documents word-for-word against originals to ensure accurate conversion.
• Review cross-references and defined terms for accuracy and check Tables of Authorities for style.
• Check handwritten revisions/electronic redlines against the draft to ensure corrections are made.
• Conduct separate checks for format, text accuracy, and statistical data.
• Ensure content is accurate, clear and complete and material is organized logically.
• Use established proofreading marks to note corrections.
• Follow policies and procedures; perform additional duties as assigned.
