Job summary

JPMorganChase in Plano, TX is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join the Consumer Banking Technology team. You will lead database modernization efforts, apply AI-assisted development practices, and guide cross-functional teams through modernization, performance tuning, and secure delivery of scalable financial technology solutions.

Expect leadership in SDLC, Agile/CI-CD practices, and collaboration with PaaS/DBaaS and cloud delivery teams.

Qualifications

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5 years applied experience
Hands-on practical experience in database system design, performing database development and performace testing and ensuring operational stability
Advanced in one or more programming language(s) and framework(s) (i.e., Tigergraph, Oracle, Sql Server, Aurora Postgres, CockroachDB, Mongo DB, etc.)

Responsibilities

Provide direct support for development teams performing database modernization activities and serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies, providing recommendations on database technology based on applications for the business requirements and needs
Contribute as database engineer and development expert, working with application development teams to develop, execute and support database modernization, optimization, performance tuning and design activities
Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
Provide thought leadership and modernization support to application development (AD) teams through the analysis, migration, and post migration efforts for their database footprints
Provide direct support for development teams performing database modernization activities and contribute to the design and development of tools to accelerate modernization efforts
Partner with PaaS, DBaaS, and Cloud Delivery teams to resolve issues and influence implementation of self service capabilities to support the AD teams
Participate in tactical and strategic database modernization planning and development of database modernization patterns
Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, technical operations, processes and partner with other Center Of Excellence teams in setting best practices, guidelines and proper design patterns across various DB technologies
Support AD teams in DB design activities, troubleshooting and resolving production database issues – contributing to root cause analysis supporting problem workstreams to upskill database development and support competencies for database issues that support problem management workstreams
