Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in Plano, TX is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to contribute to secure, scalable, market-leading technology within Consumer & Community Banking. You will be a core technical contributor across multiple business functions, driving design, development, and implementation.

You will lead AI-assisted engineering practices, ensure secure coding standards, and guide teams on cloud deployment, REST services, and advanced Java features.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in Software Engineering and 5+ years applied experience.
• 6+ years experience in IT with strong CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, operating systems, programming languages).
• 5+ years experience building mission-critical enterprise applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem (Core, Boot, Cloud).
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s): Java 17, with annotation, enum, collections, streaming, multithreading, concurrency.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
• Drives team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools to improve automation and value delivered by automation.
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve stability.
• Leads evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and applicability.
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote new technologies.
• Contributes to an inclusive team culture.
