Job summary

WSP USA’s Movable Bridge Structures group seeks a Lead Movable Bridge/Structural Engineer to join our National Bridges & Structures Practice in Chicago or any US office. Hybrid workplace model. Lead design, plan development, and ensure project scope and budgets are met while mentoring staff.

The role requires a strong background in movable bridges, infrastructure design, and cross-functional leadership within a large engineering firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 7–10 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior structural design experience.
• Professional Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Strong knowledge of structural/civil construction laws, codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, plan development tasks and perform structural analysis and design.
• Mentor and develop junior staff and coordinate with team members.
• Manage projects including bridge design and transit structures, with budgets and scheduling.
• Coordinate with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
• Develop construction plans, specifications and cost estimates; update infrastructure layouts.
