Job summary

WSP USA’s Movable Bridge Structures group has an immediate opening for a Lead Movable Bridge / Structural Engineer to join our National Bridges & Structures Practice in the Chicago office, or any office within the United States. This position is for an engineer who is seeking an opportunity to work within a team-focused local office, for a large world-wide engineering firm.

WSP USA operates with a Hybrid- Workplace Model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in structural or civil engineering.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience with structural design.
• Licensed engineer (PE/SE) preferred; multi-state licensure advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of structural and civil construction laws, codes and regulations.
• Excellent technical writing, QA/QC, and client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, plan development, and structural analysis for bridge projects.
• Manage project scope, changes, budget, and schedules.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Perform QA/QC reviews and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain client relationships and support business development.
• Lead large-scale projects across movable, fixed, highway and rail bridges.
