CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to apply advanced mechanical engineering principles across products and platforms. You will lead analyses, guide design and verification, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to optimize performance and reliability.

The role emphasizes mentoring, technical leadership, and advancing methodologies across programs to improve manufacturability and mission success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12–15 years of related experience, or Master's with 8–12 years, or PhD with 5–8 years.
• Substantial knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, machine design, structural and thermal analysis.
• Extensive experience designing components and manufacturing solutions across programs.
• Understanding of engineering analysis, GD&T, manufacturing processes, verification, and system integration.
• Leads technical decisions, mentors engineers, and advances mechanical engineering methodologies.
• Proficiency with MS Office and collaboration tools.
• Experience with CAD/CAE tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, ANSYS, MATLAB.
• Experience with engineering documentation, PLM, ERP, and tools like Windchill, SAP, Jira.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical systems, structures, mechanisms, and assemblies for multiple products.
• Evaluate structural and thermal performance and tolerances to guide design.
• Lead complex analyses and technical reviews to solve engineering challenges.
• Lead verification, qualification, validation, and testing activities.
• Provide root cause investigations and design improvements.
• Serve as a primary technical resource across programs.
