Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer in El Segundo, CA to lead mechanical design across multiple programs and guide analyses, verification, and manufacturing collaboration. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in a relevant engineering field with extensive mechanical knowledge.
• Strong understanding of mechanical analysis, GD&T, tolerances, and product development.
• Experience designing components, assemblies, and manufacturing solutions across programs.
• Proficiency in engineering analysis, structural/thermal analysis, and system integration.
• Demonstrated ability to develop innovative mechanical engineering solutions.
• Judgment in guiding technical decisions, mentoring teams, and advancing methods.
• Proficient in MS Office tools and CAD/analysis software (SolidWorks, Creo, ANSYS, MATLAB).
• Experience with PLM, ERP, and collaboration tools (Windchill, SAP, Jira).

Responsibilities

• Lead complex mechanical engineering analyses, structural evaluations, thermal assessments and design trade studies.
• Oversee mechanical verification, qualification, validation, and testing activities.
• Evaluate data, test results, and manufacturing information to improve performance and reliability.
• Guide root cause investigations, engineering changes, and design improvements.
• Serve as a primary technical resource for mechanical engineering across programs.
• Provide guidance through design reviews, investigations, and supplier evaluations.
• Promote best practices and mentor engineers across projects.
• Advance methodologies, design practices, verification approaches, and analytics.
• Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, reliability and quality.
