Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine is seeking an on-site technical assistant to support CLIA moderately complex testing under supervision. You will perform specimen handling, instrument checks, and data entry into the LIS, ensuring accuracy and adherence to SOPs.

You will handle STAT requests, assist with quality checks, and contribute to training new staff while maintaining inventory and safety standards at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hecktown Oaks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Two years in a clinical environment with data processing/specimen handling experience.
• AS degree preferred or equivalent demonstration of education and experience.
• Graduate of health/medical assistant or similar training program from an accredited institution where general laboratory technique is taught.
• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for moderate complexity testing.

Responsibilities

• Performs CLIA classified moderately complex laboratory testing and enters results into the Laboratory Information System under direct supervision of a technologist.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions within the scope of the operator’s manual.
• Performs testing designated by the department and reports results according to SOPs.
• Prioritizes work to respond to STAT/Emergency requests.
• Provides orientation and training of new employees/students.
