Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen processing and testing under supervision. The role involves preparing specimens for analysis, operating under SOPs, and assisting with quality control activities within a clinical laboratory environment.

The position requires attention to detail, accurate data entry, and ability to respond quickly to STAT requests while maintaining compliance with CLIA requirements and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; two years in a clinical environment with data processing/specimen handling experience.
• AS degree preferred or equivalent education and experience; graduate of health/medical assistant or similar program where general laboratory technique is taught.
• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for moderate complexity testing.

Responsibilities

• Performs CLIA classified moderately complex laboratory testing under direct supervision of a technologist.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions within the operator's scope and records troubleshooting.
• Performs testing designated by the department and reports results per SOPs.
• Prioritizes work to respond to STAT/Emergency requests and maintains accurate records.
