Job summary

Boston Globe Media Partners, LLC seeks an Employee and Labor Relations Manager to partner with senior leaders across the company, guiding labor and employee relations and ensuring compliance with CBAs.

The role acts as in-house CBA expert, coaching managers, investigating HR matters, and coordinating with unions and HRBPs in a hybrid Boston setting. The annual base salary range is $110,000–$130,000 USD.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of hands-on experience with labor relations and HR Centers of Excellence.
• Experience administering CBAs, including involvement in contract negotiations, interpretation, and enforcement.
• Working knowledge of labor and employment law, including NLRA and state regulations.
• Experience managing the grievance/arbitration process from filing to resolution.
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to draft proposals and reports.
• Ability to coach HRBPs and influence managers across levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance and oversight of all CBAs as a subject matter expert.
• Ensure contract terms are understood and compliant across the organization.
• Build and maintain relationships with union leadership to resolve issues early.
• Conduct HR investigations with autonomy and advise HRBPs accordingly.
• Partner with VP of Print Operations and Senior HR Director for unions and Guild matters.
• Draft proposals and generate solutions to complex problems identified by management or unions.
• Track cases to identify trends and inform policy, training, and improvements.
• Coach managers on creating a collaborative environment and positive labor relations.
• Identify training needs on labor relations and employment law and deliver them as appropriate.
• Support bargaining and participate in CBA-related committee meetings as needed.
