Job summary

Boston Globe Media seeks an Employee and Labor Relations Manager to serve as in-house expert on CBAs, guide management and HRBPs, and ensure compliant labour practices across the organization.

You will partner with senior HR and operations leaders, coach managers, and lead investigations while driving policy improvements and staff training in labor relations and employment law. The role is based in Boston with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years hands-on experience with labor relations and HR centers of excellence.
• Proven ability to independently conduct HR investigations and advise HRBPs.
• Experience administering CBAs, including negotiations, interpretation and enforcement.
• Working knowledge of labor law including NLRA and state regulations.
• Experience managing grievance and arbitration processes from start to finish.
• Strong written and verbal communication across audiences from frontline to senior leadership.
• Creative, collaborative partner to management and union leadership.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and translate stakeholder needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance and oversight of CBAs as SME for business and HRBPs.
• Ensure contract terms are understood and compliance is maintained.
• Build and maintain relationships with union leadership to resolve issues early.
• Conduct HR investigations with autonomy and advise HRBPs.
• Partner with VP of Print Operations and Senior HR Director on unions relations.
• Draft proposals and generate creative solutions to complex problems identified by management or the union.
• Track labor/employee relations cases to identify trends and inform policy improvements.
• Coach managers to foster an environment of collaboration and positive labor relations.
• Identify training needs in labor relations and employment law; deliver programs as needed.
• Support bargaining and participate in related committee meetings with union leadership.
• Maintain the Labor Relations intranet content and related communications.
• Review onboarding/offboarding and HR processes to stay aligned with labor guidelines.
