Job summary

UMass Memorial Health Care, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Labor Relations leader to implement and manage a system-wide program promoting effective labor-management relations. This role interfaces with management to negotiate contracts, interpret agreements, and guide grievance handling.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in business-related field.
• Juris Doctor is required.
• Five years of direct experience in labor relations.
• Experience as chief spokesperson in union contract negotiations.
• In-depth knowledge of collective bargaining and labor law (NLRA/NLRB).
• Preferred: experience in unionized environments with multiple unions.

Responsibilities

• Represents UMass Memorial Health Care in collective bargaining with unions.
• Prepares for, conducts, and participates in contract negotiations.
• Interprets and administers provisions of agreements and negotiates grievances.
• Advises managers on day-to-day and long-term labor relations strategy.
• Plans and organizes a program of employee relations to prevent disputes.
• Educates management on labor relations, policy interpretation and law.
• Leads workplace investigations and drafts investigative reports.
