Job summary

McGuireWoods LLP is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel to join its Labor & Employment Department. This role involves advising on high-stakes employment law matters at the intersection of corporate transactions and executive mobility.

You will work with deal teams on employment issues arising from acquisitions, leadership transitions, and integration, serving as a trusted advisor. Strong transactional counseling, strategic judgment, and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of labor and employment experience, including counseling and transactional matters.
• Experience counseling across a wide range of employment issues including discrimination and wage-hour matters.
• Experience advising employers on workplace policies, compliance, and HR matters is strongly preferred.
• Experience with mergers, acquisitions, private equity transactions, and post-closing integration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients on workplace policies, compliance, employee relations, and HR matters.
• Advise on restrictive covenants and wage misclassification issues.
• Lead employment-related due diligence in corporate transactions and supervise junior associates.
• Independently manage complex employment matters and coordinate with deal teams.
• Partner with senior executives on personnel, leadership transition, and governance issues.
• Mentor junior associates and provide opportunities for increased responsibility.
