Job summary

McGuireWoods seeks a Senior Associate or Counsel to join its Labor & Employment Department. You will advise on sophisticated employment matters at the intersection of employment law, executive mobility, and corporate transactions.

The role focuses on strategic advisory work, risk assessment, transactional counseling, and crisis management in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. This is a national search with emphasis on markets including Chicago, Baltimore, New York, and more.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant legal experience in labor and employment counseling or related transactional matters.
• Experience counseling across discrimination, wage issues, and HR matters is highly preferred.
• Experience with restrictive covenants and wage misclassification is valued.
• Experience advising on employment issues in mergers, acquisitions, or post-closing integration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients on workplace policies, compliance, and employee relations.
• Lead employment-related due diligence in corporate/PE transactions; identify risks and mitigation strategies.
• Supervise junior associates and deliver client-ready work product under tight deadlines.
• Advise on personnel, leadership transitions, and governance issues with discretion and strategic judgment.
• Mentor and develop junior attorneys; collaborate with deal teams and senior executives.
