Job summary

McGuireWoods is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel in its Labor & Employment Department to handle sophisticated matters at the intersection of employment law, executive mobility, and corporate transactions. This is a non-traditional employment law role with a focus on strategic advisory work associated with transactions.

Qualified candidates will have at least seven years of relevant experience, be admitted to practice, and demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills,

Qualifications

• At least seven years of relevant legal experience in labor and employment counseling or related matters.
• Experience advising on employment issues arising in mergers, acquisitions, private equity and post-closing integration.
• Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of application.
• Ability to manage complex matters, supervise junior attorneys, and deliver client-ready work under tight deadlines.
• Willingness to work with innovative technology platforms, including Harvey AI.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients and collaborate with deal teams on a broad range of employment matters.
• Advise on workplace policies, compliance, employee relations, and HR issues including wage-and-hour matters.
• Lead employment-related due diligence in corporate and private equity transactions and identify risk mitigation strategies.
• Manage complex matters, coordinate with deal teams, and deliver timely work products.
• Partner with senior executives to advise on sensitive personnel and governance issues.
• Mentor and develop junior associates, providing substantive guidance and increasing responsibility.
