Job summary

Amtrak seeks an experienced Senior Counsel to advise on personnel management, employee relations, and labor matters. Based in Washington DC or Philadelphia, you will handle high-stakes litigation and advise senior leadership on applicable laws, benefits programs, and compliance strategies.

You will train management on FMLA, ADA and EEO duties, supervise internal investigations, and coordinate with outside counsel on complex disputes. A DC waiver allowed bar is required.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required.
• Bar admission in any state with ability to waive into the DC Bar.
• 8+ years of relevant work experience; 10+ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Counsel senior management and HR on federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Manage labor and employment litigation portfolio before courts and agencies.
• Advise Benefits/Total Rewards on design and compliance of programs.
• Translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance for business clients.
• Develop training on FMLA, ADA, EEO responsibilities for management.
