Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority seeks an Employment and Labor Counsel to provide day-to-day legal counsel, representation, and support to MassDOT and MBTA in employment litigation and labor law at all management levels. You will respond to MCAD, EEOC, and related claims and advise on complex employment matters.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.
• Massachusetts Bar admission in good standing and annual registration.
• Two (2) years of experience practicing employment and labor law, preferably in the public sector, or equivalent.
• Experience advising clients on employment or labor law matters and representing parties in litigation or agency proceedings.
• Ability to oversee outside counsel and manage a high-volume workload.
• Ability to work with a diverse workforce and handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day employment and labor counsel to MassDOT and MBTA, including litigation support.
• Respond to MCAD, EEOC, DOL, and other agency claims and provide strategic guidance.
• Advise on employment and labor litigation matters and participate in negotiations and arbitrations.
• Represent MassDOT and MBTA in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings.
• Collaborate across agencies to implement employment policies and ensure compliance with laws and agreements.
