Job summary

NJ TRANSIT seeks a senior employment and labor attorney to serve as the principal legal advisor on employment, labor, and safety workforce requirements. You will provide timely counsel to executive leadership, HR, and operations throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, compensation, discipline, and policy implementation.

The role involves directing litigation, arbitrations, and investigations, plus overseeing policy development and cross-unit compliance.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of federal and New Jersey employment and labor law.
• Experience advising executives and HR on complex employment matters.
• Experience handling employment litigation and administrative proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Serve as principal legal advisor on employment, labor, and transportation-safety workforce requirements.
• Provide timely, privileged legal advice to executive leadership and business units.
• Direct management of litigation, arbitrations, and investigations.
• Oversee policy drafting and implementation across NJ TRANSIT’s operating units.
• Supervise attorneys and support personnel in employment and labor matters.
