Job summary

Divergent Technologies in Torrance, CA seeks a Senior Equipment Engineer-Mechanical to own the mechanical subsystems of production L-PBF equipment, including motion, recoating, build platform, gas flow, cooling, and powder handling.

You will mentor technicians, lead RCCA investigations, and collaborate with Service, Operations, Quality and Development Engineering to drive reliability, cost reduction, and continuous improvements across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• Experience with laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) or metal additive manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience owning sustaining performance of production equipment through launch or ramp.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills with large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical subsystems of production L-PBF equipment: motion, recoating, build platform, gas flow, filtration, cooling, and powder handling.
• Mentor technicians and operators; drive RCCA investigations and cross-functional actions.
• Improve work instructions and ensure service autonomy for routine issues.
• Lead reliability and data-driven improvements across the fleet; prioritize based on performance data.
• Support installation, commissioning, FAT/SAT, qualification, and production readiness for new equipment and factory expansion.
• Contribute to projections of maintenance and quality improvement within Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost baselines.
