Job summary

Divergent Technologies in Torrance, CA is seeking a hands‑on Additive Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to transition next‑gen L-PBF production equipment from development into high‑volume manufacturing.

You will own electrical systems, drive reliability, supervise technicians, mentor peers, and collaborate with Service, Operations and Development Engineering to reduce downtime and improve fleet-wide performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• 6+ years in manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, reliability engineering, or advanced production environments.
• Experience with Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) or other metal additive manufacturing technologies.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting across power, control circuits, sensors, and instrumentation.
• Experience leading root cause investigations using structured methodologies (RCCA, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
• Experience with machine sensor data or manufacturing analytics (SQL, Python).
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E and LOTO safety practices.
• Experience contributing to fleet reliability/trending programs across multiple machines/sites.

Responsibilities

• Own Equipment Reliability and Resolve Fleet Problems.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues on L-PBF equipment and coordinate with mechanical/control engineers when boundaries cross.
• Mentor technicians and operators, disseminating investigations into standard processes.
• Write or improve service work instructions to enable autonomy for Service/Operations teams.
• Support Service, Operations, Quality, and Development Engineering across the fleet.
• Lead RCCAs end to end: identify issues, containment, and long‑term corrective actions.
• Drive cost reduction through equipment optimization and fleet-wide reliability initiatives.
• Document lessons learned for standardization across fleet and future factories.
