Job summary

MO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernize VA eligibility systems, delivering scalable, enterprise-grade Java applications on a modern stack (Java 17+, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP). You will design, build, test, and maintain backend services, collaborate with architects, and drive modernization efforts across platforms, with a focus on reliability, performance, and secure deployments.

You should have 5–8 years of professional software development experience, strong Java/Spring skills,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in CS/Software Eng/IS or related field.
5–8 years of software development experience in professional environments.
Strong hands-on Java development experience.
Hands-on with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot.
Experience developing REST APIs and web services.
Experience with Oracle or other relational databases.
Experience using Git-based source control.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues.
Support enhancements and sustainment for applications using Java, Spring, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle.
Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives.
Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations.
Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and deployments.
