The role blends senior Java development, DevOps, SRE, test automation and middleware modernization; about 70% coding and configuration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Java development in production applications.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams to resolve testing, security, release, deployment, resilience, and legacy tech issues.
• Review code, dependencies, configurations, deployments, logs and CI/CD pipelines.
• Write, debug, test, review and enhance production code and configurations.
• Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and deployment tests.
• Apply Test‑Driven Development and appropriate testing approaches.
• Source test data and apply masking techniques to protect sensitive information in lower environments.
• Investigate vulnerabilities, perform root-cause analysis, implement secure remediation and regression testing.
• Upgrade Java/JVM, Spring, and runtime components; modernize middleware.
• Assist in automated dependency updates using Renovate or similar tools.
• Support modernization of legacy apps and middleware like WebSphere/WebLogic.
• Containerise apps with Docker and deploy on OpenShift platforms.
• Enhance Git workflows, PRs and code‑reviews; improve CI/CD pipelines.
• Support automation of environments via Ansible or similar tools.
• Apply secure coding patterns for secrets management and access control.
• Improve logging, health checks, metrics and tracing; establish observability.
