Job summary

Luxoft seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to strengthen security, release reliability, and resilience of banking applications. You will work hands-on with development teams, lead modernization efforts, and implement tooling and security improvements across Java/JVM, Spring, and Node.js stacks.

You will upgrade runtimes, containerize apps, automate deployments, and drive CI/CD enhancements while mentoring client teams on sustainable engineering practices and observable systems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering with production code in Java/JVM and TypeScript.
• Experience with Spring and modernizing Java enterprise apps.
• Proficiency in Test-Driven Development and automated testing within CI/CD.
• Security remediation, vulnerability management, and dependency risk analysis.
• Upgrades of runtimes, frameworks, and container platforms (Docker/OpenShift).
• Strong Linux, build tools, and production debugging skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead targeted technical engagements addressing security, testing, release, resilience, and legacy technology challenges with development teams.
• Assess application code, dependencies, runtime environment, test coverage, deployment architecture, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and operational risks.
• Write, debug, review, and enhance production-quality code and configuration throughout engagements.
• Define and implement modernization and remediation plans with priorities, dependencies, risks, and measurable outcomes.
• Develop or improve unit, integration, component, contract, and deployment tests using TDD practices.
• Drive automation testing approaches and deployment, including AI coding assistance.
• Source test data and implement secure data masking for lower environments.
• Perform vulnerability triage, root-cause and dependency analyses, remediation prioritization, secure code changes, and regression testing.
• Upgrade Java/JVM, NPM, Spring, libraries, and installed software to supported versions.
• Establish sustainable dependency-management processes with continuous library updates.
• Modernize legacy apps/middleware including WebSphere/WebLogic; containerize with Docker; support OpenShift deployments.
• Improve source control, branch management, PRs, and code reviews.
• Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for safe, repeatable, automated releases.
• Automate environment changes using Ansible or similar tools.
• Implement secure coding patterns, secrets management, authentication, and least-privilege controls.
• Introduce standard observability patterns: logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerts, health checks.
• Enhance exception handling, diagnostics, rollback procedures, and production-validation controls.
• Design resilient deployment architectures (hot-hot, multi-region as needed).
• Lead technical workshops and communicate decisions, risks, trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, standards, and knowledge transfer.
