Job summary

Citibank (Switzerland) AG in Jersey City seeks a Senior Java Big Data Developer to design and build the Regulatory Reporting Hub. This AVP role focuses on a Risk and Finance dashboard, combining expert Java/J2EE backend with JavaScript front-end, in a high-visibility compliance-driven tech function.

You will lead architecture discussions, mentor junior engineers, and partner with business stakeholders to deliver regulator-facing reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience in Java, with expert-level skills in Core Java, Spring, Web Services, and J2EE.
• 5+ years of experience implementing enterprise-level Java development projects.
• Expert knowledge of Apache Spring, Spark, and Kafka.
• Expert knowledge of the Cloudera ecosystem: Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Impala.
• Expert knowledge of JSON, XSD, RESTful web services, design patterns, and databases.
• Strong CS fundamentals across data structures, algorithms, databases, OS.
• Experience building high-performance, multi-threaded apps.
• Proficiency in server-side RESTful services and Spring MVC.
• Frontend skills: JavaScript, HTML5, AJAX, JSON; AngularJS, CSS, Spring MVC.
• Knowledge of WebSphere/WASND; SVN/Bitbucket for source control.
• Banking ops experience and regulatory impact awareness are pluses.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with business users to gather and document requirements for the Regulatory Reporting Hub.
• Translate requirements into technical specifications with technology teams.
• Implement reconciliation processes for regulatory and financial data.
• Contribute to design and architecture discussions for the application.
• Define testing strategy and manage UAT with stakeholders.
• Provide post-implementation support and issue resolution.
• Lead weekly status reviews and report to steering committees.
• Suggest process improvements and code/architecture enhancements.
• Mentor junior engineers in an Agile delivery environment.
