  • 5+ years of Java development with Core Java, Spring, J2EE.
  • 5+ years implementing enterprise Java projects.

  • Expert knowledge of Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Impala).
  • Expert knowledge of JSON, RESTful services, and databases.
  • Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, and operating systems.
  • Experience developing high-performance, multi-threaded applications.
  • Server-side integration, RESTful services, and Spring MVC.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/HTML5/AJAX/JSON for web front-end.
  • Experience with AngularJS, CSS, and Spring MVC in the context of JavaScript-based apps.
  • Good knowledge of design patterns and how to fix code issues.
  • Experience with WebSphere or WASND.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with business users to gather, clarify, and document business requirements for the Regulatory Reporting Hub.
  • Translate documented business requirements into technical specifications in partnership with technology teams.
  • Implement reconciliation processes for regulatory and financial data.
  • Participate in and contribute to design and architectural solutions for the application.
  • Define the overall testing strategy for new development and enhancements.
  • Manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
  • Provide post-implementation support to ensure application stability and issue resolution.
  • Lead weekly review calls to manage status with all involved parties and ensure project progress.
  • Maintain an issues list and action items log, and follow up with stakeholders to ensure timely task completion.
  • Provide input to the bi-weekly steering committee reporting, covering project status, financials, and escalations.
  • Critically evaluate current processing and recommend process efficiencies and enhancements.
  • Design, review, and suggest improvements to existing code and architecture.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members within an agile delivery environment.

Citibank is seeking a Senior Java Big Data Developer to design and build core components of the Regulatory Reporting Hub, a Franchise Critical Application that enables the bank to remain compliant with regulatory requirements across the global industry. This role centers on developing a Risk and Finance dashboard application that delivers sensitive analytical and business process data to senior management, combining expert-level Java and J2EE backend engineering with JavaScript-based front-end development. The position sits within a high-visibility, compliance-driven technology function and requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, technology partners, and testing teams to deliver reliable, regulator-facing reporting capabilities. This is a senior individual contributor role with expectations of technical leadership, architectural input, and mentorship of junior engineers. Candidates with banking operations experience and knowledge of regulatory impacts on trade processing will be especially well positioned for this opportunity.

Qualifications:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Apache Spring, Spark, and Kafka.
  • Expert-level knowledge of the Cloudera ecosystem, including Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, and Impala.
  • Expert-level knowledge of JSON, XSD, RESTful web services, design patterns, and databases.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, and operating systems.
  • Experience developing high-performance, multi-threaded applications.
  • Thorough understanding of server-side integration, RESTful services, and Spring MVC.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, AJAX, and JSON for web front-end development.
  • Experience with AngularJS, CSS, and Spring MVC in the context of JavaScript-based web applications.
  • Good knowledge of design patterns, with the ability to solve complex design issues and identify and fix code issues.
  • Good skills in web servers such as WebSphere and WASND.
  • Experience with source code management tools such as SVN and Bitbucket.
  • Banking operations experience, including knowledge of trade processing flows and their regulatory impacts on operational processing.
  • Experience in Compliance or the financial sector is a plus.
  • Regulatory business knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills focused on data analysis, including experience with mainstream data analysis tools such as Excel and Access.
  • Strong business analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with technology partners to ensure business requirements are met by development.
