Cognizant is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design and build scalable, cloud-based backend applications. You will work with a collaborative team of engineers, product managers, and leads to translate business requirements into reliable technology solutions.

The role emphasizes scalable backend development with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA, plus experience with Kafka and CI/CD in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Hands-on experience building scalable backend applications in a cloud environment.
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka or other enterprise messaging systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment with technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable backend applications and analytics solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and lead technical discussions with product managers and stakeholders.
• Build high-quality features by following coding standards, writing unit tests, and meeting code-coverage expectations.
• Support the full software delivery lifecycle including testing, CI/CD deployment, production release, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain technical designs and service specifications while guiding developers on documentation standards.
