Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Java Backend Lead Developer to design and deliver scalable cloud-based applications and analytics solutions using Java, Spring, and cloud technologies.

You will provide technical leadership across the full software lifecycle, collaborate with program managers and stakeholders, and ensure high-quality code, testing, and production readiness.

This remote US role offers flexible work arrangements and opportunities to drive critical systems in high-volume environments.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of software development experience with Java/Spring technologies.
• Experience designing scalable backend applications for high-volume environments.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Experience deploying applications on major cloud platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions in Agile Scrum teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable backend applications and analytics solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Partner with program managers, technology leads, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Develop high-quality features with unit testing and code coverage.
• Provide technical guidance and create technical/service documentation and designs.
• Oversee testing, deployment, and production readiness with monitoring and observability.
