Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design and build scalable, cloud-based backend services in a remote-capable US role. You will work with product managers and engineers to translate requirements into robust solutions, lead technical discussions, and ensure quality through tests, CI/CD, and observability.

The role requires 6+ years in Java/Spring, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Agile, with a strong emphasis on deployment, monitoring, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development experience with Java/Spring stack.
• Hands-on in cloud-backed scalable backend applications.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or comparable messaging systems.
• CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes in modern deployments.
• Agile Scrum experience collaborating with tech and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable backend applications and analytics solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and lead technical discussions with product managers, technical leads, and stakeholders.
• Build high-quality features by following coding standards, developing unit tests, and meeting code-coverage goals.
• Support the full software delivery lifecycle including testing, CI/CD deployment, production release, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain technical designs and service documentation while guiding developers.
