Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design and build scalable, cloud-based backend services. You will work with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and data technologies to translate business requirements into reliable software solutions, contributing to the full software delivery lifecycle.

This remote role is open to qualified applicants in the United States. You will collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders, participate in CI/CD, Kubernetes, and observability

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Hands-on experience building scalable backend applications in a cloud environment.
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging/queueing tech.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment with technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable backend applications and analytics using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and lead technical discussions with product managers and leads.
• Build high-quality features by following coding standards, writing unit tests, and achieving code-coverage goals.
• Support the full software delivery lifecycle including testing, CI/CD, production release, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain technical designs and service specifications, guiding developers on documentation standards.
