Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an experienced IT Tooling Architect to own the technical architecture of automation platforms. You will lead design decisions across n8n, Airflow, Temporal, and Jira, and partner with Security and IAM to resolve blockers.

The role emphasizes building reusable components, documenting decisions, and translating ambiguous problems into production-ready specs, with a remote-first environment and quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in IT engineering, automation, or systems engineering with ownership of architecture decisions or platform-level systems.
• Deep expertise building automations using n8n, Airflow, Temporal, Jira Automation, or Workato with Git-based workflows.
• Knowledge of Okta, Slack API, and Google Workspace for secure automation design.
• Ability to translate loosely scoped problems into production-ready specifications.
• Responsible use of AI to improve workflow efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the architectural design of IT Tooling automations across n8n, Airflow, Temporal, and Jira.
• Establish architecture standards and code review practices to raise engineering bar.
• Lead as technical DRI on complex automation projects from discovery to production.
• Partner with Security, Corporate Engineering, and IAM to resolve blockers and participate in cross-functional architecture discussions.
• Build reusable frameworks and components to reduce single points of failure across the platform.
• Produce architecture documents and decision records to enable scaling with minimal dependency on individuals.
• Manage workload with independence, turning loosely scoped problems into production-ready specs.
