Job summary

Invio Automation is seeking an Applications Engineer on the Factory of the Future Consulting team to lead front-end development of automation projects. This role uses technical simulation modeling to evaluate feasibility, optimize designs, and support proposals.

You will collaborate with design, engineering, estimating, and sales teams to create practical tooling concepts and scalable automation solutions. Remote in the United States with up to 50% travel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automation, simulation engineering, or cost estimating.
• Proficiency in simulation tools (Visual Components).
• Strong understanding of mechanical automation systems, robotics, and production processes.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Experience using costing software, Excel models, or ERP/PLM quoting tools.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical findings clearly.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Develop tooling concepts for manufacturing tooling, lift assists, end effectors, grippers, fixtures, clamps, and material-handling solutions.
• Translate customer requirements into practical tooling concepts and concepts layouts.
• Create and review 3D CAD models, layouts, BOMs, and technical specs.
• Support costing inputs for automation systems, including mechanical, controls, installation, and labor.
• Collaborate with sales and proposal teams to develop accurate proposals.
• Refine concept models and simulation templates for standardization and efficiency.
