Job summary

Spotsylvania County's Information Services Department seeks an IT Support Specialist 2 to provide frontline technical support for hardware, software, and data storage. You will diagnose issues via phone, remote access, or in person, and assist users county-wide.

The role requires an Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field, 3–5 years PC experience, and knowledge of AD, networking basics, and best practices. Certifications like A+, ITIL Foundation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field; degree waived with equivalent training/experience
• 3–5 years of PC and computer systems experience
• Valid Virginia driver's license; ability to work varying shifts as needed
• Certifications such as A+, ITIL Foundation, Microsoft technologies are desired

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for county staff.
• Provide first-line support via phone, remote access, or in person.
• Assist with user onboarding, training, and issue documentation.
• Create, track, and manage service requests and purchase orders.
• Maintain inventory and assist with equipment procurement and replacement
• Document procedures for troubleshooting and maintenance
• Support printer and peripheral devices and assist with system backups
