Job summary

SMS Datacenter is seeking an experienced Senior IT Service Desk Technician to join our Irvine team. You will travel to local customer sites for on-site support and remotely resolve escalations from junior teammates.

Strong desktop and infrastructure support, plus networking troubleshooting, are required. This full-time, on-site role requires residents within 50 miles of Irvine and US citizenship or a green card.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-time IT experience with Level 2+ support.
• Experience with Windows AD, GPOs, and Windows OSes.
• Experience troubleshooting Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID, Intune).
• Networking knowledge incl. TCP/IP, VLANs, Wi‑Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Relevant certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Microsoft) or equivalent knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 support with excellent customer service for users.
• Travel to client sites for on-site support and planned work.
• Assist junior team members with escalations and guidance.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in Windows workstations, servers, Microsoft 365, networking, printers.
• Assist with configuring networking devices and remote hands for engineers.
• Perform root cause analysis and propose improvements for stability and security.
• Maintain documentation of work, status, and time entries on tickets daily.
• Participate in projects including workstation deployments, migrations, and upgrades.
• Follow security policies and documentation standards.
