Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Senior IT Manager to lead the infrastructure platforms team, overseeing Windows Server, Linux, AIX, storage, and backup services. This remote role may be hired in Arizona, North Carolina, or Texas, requiring strong leadership, regulatory discipline, and hands-on operational excellence.

You will partner with cybersecurity, architecture, and risk teams to ensure secure, highly available, and recoverable infrastructure aligned with business needs and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Applications development, analysis or engineering.
• High School Diploma with 12 years of experience in Applications development, analysis or engineering.
• Experience leading IT infrastructure teams across enterprise servers and platforms.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure operations, platform hardening, backup/recovery, DR, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of infrastructure teams (Windows, Linux, AIX, storage, backup).
• Supervise and develop system administrators and engineers; manage workload and career development.
• Ensure high availability and reliability through monitoring, capacity planning, incident management, and continuous service improvement.
• Oversee lifecycle management of servers, OS, storage, and backup hardware/software; patching and upgrades.
• Maintain backup/restore readiness; document recovery objectives and test regularly.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and risk teams on secure configurations and compliance.
• Establish and enforce infrastructure standards, runbooks, change controls, and governance.
• Coordinate major incident response during outages and recovery events.
• Support audits by providing evidence and addressing control gaps promptly.
• Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, maintenance, and support services.
• Contribute to strategic planning for modernization, automation, and cloud integration.
• Collaborate with application and database teams on performance and infrastructure requirements.
• Drive automation and standardized deployment processes to reduce manual work.
• Own capacity and performance management for compute/storage/backup with scalable planning.
• Adhere to ITIL-aligned processes for incident, problem, change, request, and configuration management.
