Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead RMF A&A activities across complex environments. The role focuses on NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5 controls, continuous monitoring, and creating comprehensive RMF artifacts.

The Senior ISSO will mentor junior staff, manage multiple assessments concurrently, and ensure compliance with DoD and federal cybersecurity policies. The position supports remote work with a base in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's with 12+ years of information system security experience (or commensurate)
• 8–10+ years in an ISSO or cybersecurity compliance role
• Experience conducting RMF assessments across multiple network environments
• Experience with microservices-based or distributed system architectures and security assessments
• Proficiency with GRC platforms for A&A documentation and continuous monitoring (JCAM/CSAM, Xacta, or equivalent)
• Active DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAM Level II or III (CISSP/CISM/CASP+ or equivalent)
• Must maintain a Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of the RMF lifecycle across multiple systems and networks
• Develop and maintain RMF artifacts: SSPs, SARs, SAPs, POA&Ms, BOE
• Manage evidence collection and traceability for assessments
• Assess emerging technology systems and adapt control baselines
• Provide security reporting and metrics to owners and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, CNSSI 1253 and client policies
• Lead and mentor junior ISSO staff
