Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead RMF activities across multiple environments, including emerging AI/ML platforms. You will mentor junior ISSO staff and ensure compliance with NIST, CNSSI, and DoD guidance.

The role supports full RMF lifecycle, from categorization to continuous monitoring, with a focus on complex assessments and security documentation. Remote-friendly, base in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years information security experience.
• 8–10+ years in an ISSO or cybersecurity compliance role, with ISSO of record on assigned systems
• Demonstrated experience conducting RMF assessments across multiple network environments
• Experience with microservices-based or distributed system architectures and component-level security assessments
• Proficiency with GRC platforms for A&A documentation and continuous monitoring (JCAM/CSAM, Xacta, or equivalent)
• Active DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAM Level II or III (CISSP, CISM, CASP+, or equivalent)
• Clearance Required: Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities

• Support and execute all phases of the NIST RMF lifecycle across multiple systems
• Develop, maintain, and update RMF documentation (SSPs, SARs, SAPs, POA&Ms)
• Conduct multiple concurrent RMF assessments
• Assess and authorize emerging technology systems including AI/ML platforms
• Manage evidence collection and Body of Evidence packages
• Establish system impact levels per FIPS 199 and perform PIAs/PTAs
• Review vulnerability results and manage POA&M remediation
• Provide security reporting, dashboards, and scorecard updates to owners
• Ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, CNSSI 1253, OMB A-130
• Manage assessment workflow in JIRA
• Mentor junior ISSO staff and develop SOPs
• Collaborate with stakeholders to review systems and communicate security requirements
