Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead Assessment and Authorization activities across RMF lifecycle for multiple systems, including AI/ML platforms, under NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5. The role mentors junior ISSO staff and ensures compliance with DoD 8570.01-M, CNSSI 1253, and FISMA requirements.

This position is based in Washington, DC, with eligibility for 100% remote work and a focus on delivering secure, compliant solutions for government clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of information system security experience or commensurate experience
• 8–10+ years in an ISSO or cybersecurity compliance role
• Demonstrated RMF assessments across multiple network environments
• Experience with microservices-based or distributed architectures and security assessments
• Proficiency with GRC platforms for A&A documentation and continuous monitoring

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of the RMF lifecycle across multiple concurrent systems
• Maintain RMF artifacts: SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, RAR and BOE documentation
• Conduct concurrent RMF assessments and manage evidence in JCAM
• Assess and authorize emerging technologies including AI/ML platforms
• Manage POA&M remediation and track to closure
• Establish system impact levels per FIPS 199 and perform PIAs/PTAs
• Review vulnerability results and ensure scan completeness
• Provide security dashboards and metrics to stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, CNSSI 1253 and client policies
• Manage workflow using JIRA and maintain status visibility
• Mentor ISSO staff and develop SOPs to improve efficiency
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to review systems and communicate security requirements
