Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead RMF activities across multiple systems, including emerging AI/ML platforms. You will mentor junior ISSO staff and ensure compliance with NIST 800-53 Rev 5, CNSSI 1253, and DoD guidelines.

The role is based in Washington, DC with 100% remote work eligibility. Strong experience in A&A, RMF artifacts, and JCAM/CSAM is required, along with active Security+ CE and Public Trust eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of information system security experience
• 8–10+ years in an ISSO or cybersecurity compliance role
• RMF assessments across multiple network environments
• Experience managing multiple concurrent A&A assessments
• Experience developing and maintaining complete RMF artifact packages: SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, RAR, BOE
• Experience with microservices-based or distributed system architectures and component-level security assessments
• Proficiency with GRC platforms for A&A documentation and continuous monitoring (JCAM/CSAM, Xacta, or equivalent)
• Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification
• DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 compliant — IAM Level II or III (CISSP, CISM, CASP+, or equivalent)
• Clearance Required: Ability to maintain a Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities

• Support RMF lifecycle activities across multiple environments
• Maintain RMF documentation (SSPs, SARs, SAPs, POA&Ms, plans)
• Conduct concurrent RMF assessments
• Assess emerging tech (AI/ML) and adapt baselines
• Manage evidence collection and BOE packages
• Establish FIPS 199 impact levels and perform PIAs/PTAs
• Review vulnerability results and track POA&Ms to closure
• Provide security dashboards and metrics updates
• Ensure compliance with FISMA/NIST CNSSI policies
• Manage workflows in JIRA and maintain status visibility
• Mentor junior ISSO staff and develop SOPs
• Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate security requirements
