Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead RMF activities across multiple environments, including AI/ML platforms, per NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5. You will mentor junior ISSO staff and ensure compliance with FISMA, CNSSI 1253, and related policies.

The position is based in Washington, DC with 100% remote eligibility. Requires Bachelor’s + 12+ years in info security, 8–10+ years as ISSO, and active security certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years information security experience.
• 8–10+ years in ISSO or cybersecurity compliance roles.
• Experience conducting RMF assessments across networks.
• Experience with RMF artifact packages: SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, BOE.
• Experience with microservices/distributed architectures and security assessments.
• Proficiency with GRC platforms for A&A documentation and continuous monitoring.
• Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
• DoD 8570.01/ DoD 8140 IAM Level II or III (CISSP/CISM/CASP+).
• Ability to maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute all RMF lifecycle phases across multiple systems.
• Develop, maintain and update SSPs, SARs, SAPs, and POA&Ms.
• Conduct concurrent RMF assessments and manage evidence packages.
• Assess emerging tech security and adapt control baselines.
• Manage BOE and artifact documentation for audits and reviews.
• Establish system impact levels and conduct PIAs/PTAs.
• Review vulnerabilities and drive POA&M remediation to closure.
• Provide security reporting, dashboards, and metrics to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, CNSSI 1253.
• Lead JIRA-based workflows and mentor junior ISSO staff.
