Job summary

Design Within Reach is seeking an Inventory Senior Accountant to join our team in Stamford, CT. You will oversee inventory accounting across multiple brands, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate COGS reporting for the US operations.

You'll own the monthly close for inventory, coordinate physical counts, analyze variances, and support audits while partnering with the Finance Manager and Controller to strengthen controls and processes.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience including inventory.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls.
• Excellent Excel skills with PivotTables and lookups.
• NetSuite experience preferred; Retail industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own key elements of the monthly inventory close process, including reconciliations, journal entries and accruals for inventory, COGS, inventory movements, shrinkage and goods in transit.
• Maintain SOX-compliant controls and processes for inventory and COGS, identify control gaps and recommend improvements.
• Analyze inventory and COGS variances, investigate discrepancies and resolve root causes.
• Support internal and external audits related to inventory accounting and controls.
• Coordinate physical inventory activities across multiple brands and locations, training staff and ensuring procedures are followed.
• Lead inventory process-improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
