Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Associate Senior Counsel to manage a caseload of moderate to high exposure insurance defense matters in Texas, handling cases from inception through trial and appeal. The role emphasizes proactive case handling, mentoring junior attorneys, and delivering exceptional client service.

You will collaborate with experts, use strong research and advocacy skills, and contribute to strategic decisions while traveling as needed to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Proven track record of trying cases to a jury with successful courtroom outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of practice area and ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
• Proficient oral and written advocacy with judgments or appellate success.
• In-depth knowledge of local bench, bar and jurisdictional practices.

Responsibilities

• Leverage pre-trial and trial experience to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct proficient to advanced legal research and strong legal writing/presentation skills.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and Claim partners.
• Collaborates with expert witnesses and consultants to develop case strategies and testimony.
• Build and maintain strong client and partner relationships and manage expectations.
• Provide training and updates to insured clients and Claim partners.
• Lead through mentoring attorneys and support staff.
• Contribute to special projects and office goals.
• Utilize technology, case management systems and automation.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
